Description

Mounjaro is a once-weekly injectable prescription medication used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes. It contains the active ingredient injectable Tirzepatide. This drug works by helping your pancreas produce and release insulin more effectively, which lowers your blood sugar levels. Mounjaro also slows down digestion, reducing the amount of sugar your body absorbs after meals.

Storage Guide
  1. Unopened Mounjaro should be stored in a refrigerator at 2°C to 8°C (36°F to 46°F). Do not freeze.

  2. After opening (or once removed from the refrigerator), storage time depends on the format:

    • Single-dose prefilled pen or single-dose vial: good at room temperature (below 30°C/86°F) for up to 3 weeks (21 days). It can also be placed back in the refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) until use. Do not freeze.
    • Mounjaro KwikPen: good at room temperature (below 30°C/86°F) for up to 30 days after first use. It can also be placed back in the refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) during this time. Do not freeze.
  3. Keep Mounjaro and needles out of reach of children and pets.

  4. Do not share your Mounjaro pen or needles with others, as doing so increases the risk of infection.

  5. Properly discard used needles and pens in a puncture-resistant sharps container to ensure safe disposal.

  1. Before starting treatment with Mounjaro, discuss with your doctor or pharmacist the correct dosage and administration based on your particular health condition and other medications you are taking. Normally, the recommended dose is 0.25mg or 0.5mg administered subcutaneously once a week.
  2. Inject Mounjaro into the upper arm, thigh or abdomen (about 2 inches away from the navel and 1 inch towards the side) in a rotating injection site. Do not inject into areas where the skin is tender, bruised, irritated, or scarred.
  3. Dosage should be administered at the same time each week, usually on a specific day.
  4. Prior to each injection, clean the injection site with an alcohol swab to prevent infection.
  5. Use a new injection site each time to minimize the risk of injection site reactions.
